Spring is definitely in the air and nothing livens up your home more than a few décor and organizational refreshers.  Here’s 8 simple tips to make your home feel like a spring sanctuary.

CLEAR OUT THE CLUTTER

Clothes, toys, paperwork….things have a way of accumulating around the house. In some cases, it can seem like they’ve taken on a mind of their own! If it gets to this point, it’s time to tackle the problem.  The good news is that decluttering doesn’t have to be intimidating. Spending just a few minutes each day on this task can make a huge difference. Just take things one room, one closet, one corner at a time. You can also consider easy solutions like adding trays, baskets or storage ottomans to rooms where daily debris tends to pile up.

LET THERE BE LIGHT

When was the last time you cleaned your windows? What about your light fixtures and ceiling fans? These are chores that are easy to forget but can make a big difference when it comes to making your home feel brighter. Wiping down your windows will really maximize all the beautiful spring sunshine that comes pouring in. Getting rid of all the dust on your light fixtures and ceiling fan blades makes them look cleaner and brighter (your nose may thank you, too).

ADD SOME POP WITH PILLOWS

Who doesn’t love a reason to buy new accent pillows? This is an easy and affordable way to usher in a new season and spruce up a tired-looking couch, chair or bed. Whether you prefer bold colors or fresh floral, this one small addition to your décor can make all the difference.

BRIGHTEN UP WITH BEDDING

It’s time to put away the heavy comforters and throw blankets. Freshen up your bed with lighter fabrics like cotton and linen. Choose lighter neutral colors to make your room feel larger or play with florals to add an extra touch of spring to your space.

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE FLOWERS

The outdoors are always in style. We love incorporating greenery all year long but spring is our favorite season for decorating with beautiful fresh flowers. Put a simple bouquet on your dining room table, sideboard or even your nightstand for a lovely springtime look and scent.

MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL

Mirrors aren’t just for checking out your hair or make-up as you’re heading out the door. They are extremely versatile (and often underutilized) decorative pieces that have the added benefit of bringing in more light. Put a large mirror in a small room to make it appear twice as big. Place a mirror across from a garden view to reflect it on the other side of the room or try a gallery wall of mirrors to add a little more drama to any space. You don’t have to place mirrors at eye level to get the effect you’re looking for.

UPDATE YOUR ART

Looking at the same wall art day after day can make a space feel tired. But you don’t need to completely redo an entire gallery wall or swap out your favorite dramatic painting to give your walls a nice refresh. Making a few small additions or tweaks here and there may be all you need. Look for a fun new piece to lean on a console table. Have a wall of family photos? Try swapping out color for black and white.

DON’T FORGET THE OUTSIDE

It’s easy to add a touch of spring to your outdoor spaces. Put a new floral wreath on your front door and swap out the winter welcome mat for something new and fresh. If you’re like most Minto homeowners, you love to spend time outside on the lanai or patio. This is a great space to incorporate a little spring flair whether it’s with new furniture, throw pillows or an outdoor area rug.
