Fun Hobbies to Try This Year

Looking for some new hobbies to try this year? Look no further, we’ve got you covered! Here are some hobbies to keep you busy in 2018.

1. Listen to Podcasts

If you have never listened to a podcast you definitely need to give it a try! There are thousands of different genres of podcasts, so you will absolutely find one that interests you. Many books are made into podcasts, so you can have a book read to you while doing errands or household chores. Try putting one on in your car instead of the radio. There are podcasts about sports, entertainment, politics, music, etc. Most smart phones have a built-in podcast app, so plug it in while you’re in the car and get listening!

2. Write a Blog

Have you ever thought about starting your own blog but don’t know where to start? Write a “Get to Know Me” blog for your viewers. Think about what type of blog you would like to write. Do your friends always come to you for advice? Try writing a lifestyle and advice blog. If that isn’t for you try writing a cooking blog with original recipes or a “how to” blog. Find your style and write!

3. Hiking

Looking for a hobby to get you into shape? Hiking is great for your body in so many ways. It can build stamina, strengthen your core, improve blood pressure, and it gets you outside in nature! If you enjoy being in the outdoors try going for a hike one to two times a week. Hiking is a great hobby because you can do it by yourself, with a partner, or as a family.

4. Join a Book Club or Movie Club

If you like activities with groups of people, consider joining a book or movie club. A great idea for a book club is to get your friends together and read books that are being turned into movies. If you meet bi-monthly or once a month, try reading the book one week and going on a girls night out the movies the next week. This will give you a nice break between books.

5. Meditation

If you are looking for a relaxing hobby to do on your own, meditation is for you! This is a very simple hobby you can do in your home, the office or when you have a few minutes in the car. Meditation can relieve stress, control anxiety, improve sleep patterns, and so much more.

6. Foster Animals

Animal lovers, this one is for you! If you love animals but can’t take on the full commitment, or simply want to help an animal in need, consider fostering. Instead of an animal being kept in a shelter, you can give a helping hand and provide a temporary home until they are ready to be adopted.
