Holiday Traditions to Start with Your Family

Christmas Eve Pajamas

This is a great idea you can start when your kids are little and continue throughout the years! Buy the entire family matching pajamas to wear on Christmas Eve. You will have the best pictures on Christmas morning to look back on!

Ornament Collection

Start a tradition where each person in your family gets a new ornament every year. You could collect them by theme. For example, if someone really like Disney movies, they could get a new Disney character ornament each year.

 Hot Cocoa Bar

Lay out a hot chocolate bar on Christmas Eve with lots of fun toppings. Then pop in a Christmas movie to watch with the family. Everyone gets to be creative with festive drinks and spend some quality time together watching a movie. (You can also do this in your Christmas pajamas!)

Light Seeing

Plan a night before Christmas to go “light seeing.” Go for a drive to a street well-known for its festive lights. This will be sure to bring smiles and the holiday spirit.

Give Back

This is a great tradition to start when you have young children. Christmas is a great season to give back to others. Let your kids pick out a toy to donate or volunteer in a soup kitchen. Every little bit helps around the holiday season!

Gingerbread Houses

This is a fun tradition that you can start early in the season. Make a gingerbread house with your family! If you are really feeling festive, you can make one from scratch, but store bought gingerbread houses are great too.  Everyone can add their own creativity to the decorating!

Make Your Own Tree Garland

Start a tradition of making your own garland. You could try to make a different one every year.  One year you could make it with popcorn, the next with paper, and the next with mini ornaments!
